Setting-less protection

The idea is to demonstrate the possibility that arise from having more measurements in the distribution system. In this use case we will demonstrate how smart sensors can be used to securely protect different components in the power grid.

The setting less protection have the potential to overcome some of the protection issues that arises in distribution systems with large share of distributed generation, e.g. solar PVs, such as protection blinding etc.

The use case will be demonstrated at Chalmers campus, to be able to demonstrate the functionality without affecting the end user the equipment is installed in the laboratory.

In the laboratory it is possible to create different faults in different grid component, the demonstration will show how the algorithms detect the fault in the system as well as how the fault is cleared.
